Cranbury Twp.: Girl, 9, Says Strange Man In Car Stopped Her
The girl, 9, said she was standing outside a Cranbury ballet studio when a man in an SUV stopped and asked for her name and where she lives.

CRANBURY, NJ — Cranbury Township police say a suspicious man tried to talk to a nine-year-old girl outside a ballet studio Tuesday afternoon, and they are warning all parents to be aware.
The nine-year-old girl told police she was standing outside a ballet studio (name undisclosed) Tuesday afternoon when a middle-aged white man, with dark-colored hair wearing sunglasses, drove up to her in a silver/gray SUV.
He asked, “What’s your name and where do you live?”, the girl said.

It is unknown if she answered, but the SUV then drove away out of the municipal parking lot toward North Main Street. The girl quickly reentered the ballet studio and reported the incident.
While no arrests have been made and there is no further information about this case, Cranbury police encourage parents to talk to their children about what to do if approached by strangers. Kids should also practice safe strategies like moving with groups of people they know whenever possible. In addition, children should be reminded to never enter an unknown vehicle if asked, and to never accompany an unknown adult.
