South Brunswick police told drivers to avoid the area of Route 27 and Gateway Boulevard for most of the day Tuesday because of an accident.

No one was seriously injured in the Tuesday morning crash, but it knocked out a traffic signal, police said.

Police said delays were expected in the area until repairs could be completed by the state Department of Transportation.

The car destroyed an electrical box, so repairs were expected to take a total of about 10 hours to complete.

A repair crew began working at the scene Tuesday morning. Police estimated that repairs would be complete around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
