Donation Drive For Afghan Refugees In Middlesex County
Local organizations are holding a donation drive to help Afghan refugees arriving at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Local organizations are holding a donation drive to help Afghan refugees who recently arrived in New Jersey.
The first group of Afghan refugees arrived at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, federal officials announced Wednesday. The joint base is one of four military bases in the United States that are providing temporary shelter to Afghans as part of Operation Allies Refuge, according to the Defense Department.

On Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., donations for the refugees will be accepted at the North Brunswick Islamic Center, in North Brunswick.

- Hijabs
- Diaper cream
- Diapers
- Baby formula
- Baby bottles
- Baby food
- Wipes
- Andriod and iPhone charger cables (wires only)
- Razors
- Shaving Cream
- Tweezers
- Men, women, kids shower flip flops
- Tea Kettles
- Pacifiers
- Nail clippers
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Deodorant
All donations will be collected and a designated truck will drop them off at the base.
The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst will provide temporary housing to Afghan refugees as the United States withdraws its military presence, federal officials said Monday. The refugees, who are waiting at U.S. military bases in Germany, Qatar, and Bahrain, will receive housing, medical and other support.
