SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick Police are currently handling two separate electrical fires on utility poles which are causing significant traffic issues around the township.

Here's where:

  • Route 1 North near Whispering Woods Drive: A fire on the utility pole has brought wires onto Route 1 North. Northbound lanes are currently closed. Southbound lanes may also need to be closed soon. Motorists can use Route 522 as an alternate.
  • Route 27 at Raymond Road: A pole fire on Route 27, between Kingston Terrace Drive and Raymond Road is preventing vehicles from heading south.

PSEG has been notified and is responding, police said.
