Driver Released from Hospital in South Brunswick Crash
Police say the only reason the man survived the Davidson Mill Road crash is because he was wearing his seat belt.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The 23-year-old man distracted by a piece of paper flying out the window was released from the hospital just five hours after getting into this car crash Sunday in South Brunswick Township (pictured above).
As Patch reported, the accident occurred at 3:30 p.m. Sunday on Davidson Mill Road at Gregory Court. The driver, a 23-year-old Middlesex County man, became distracted by a piece of paper flying out the window as he was headed westbound on Davidson Mill Road, and ran off the road, striking the utility pole.
The force of the impact not only caused the 2000 Mitsubishi to split in half, but also caused wires to fall and land in a field about 300 yards away. Those live electrical wires started a small field fire.

The driver had to be extricated out of his vehicle, and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was treated and released for his injuries just five hours after the crash, police said.
South Brunswick police continue to emphasis that his seat belt was the only thing keeping him alive that day.

“Clearly if you see the pictures and video from the scene it is a miracle this young man survived, let alone practically walked away," said Police Chief Raymond Hayducka.
"This crash reinforces the dangers of distracted driving. Students in driver’s education should watch the crash scene video to see what taking your eyes off driving for even a split second can do," he added.
Responding to the crash was Monmouth Junction Fire Department, South Brunswick EMS, RWJUH paramedics, NJ Forest Fire Service, PSE&G and South Brunswick Police.
