A few things to know before you go:
- Take pills out of their original containers and put them in a paper or plastic bag.
- Keep liquids, such as cough medicine, in their original containers.
- Vape pens with batteries that can’t be removed will not be accepted.
Those vape pens pose a danger to Drug Enforcement Administration personnel and incinerator staff who destroy the collected items, because they may explode in the incinerator, according to the advisory. The DEA will accept vape pens and other e-cigarette devices only after the batteries have been removed.
