What can you do with your old books besides donating them to the library?

Please click here  to get an idea about how creative and fun making Altered Books can be.

For more inspiration, put "Altered Books" or "Altered Book Art" into the Google search engine and do an image search and see all of the creative projects that have been done. Click on individual images to get a closer look or to learn more from each of the Altered Book Artists that have their work on the web.

Altered books can be created for use as travel journals, photo albums, memory books or scrapbooks or they can be just created as a work of art.  It can be as simple as painting or drawing on single book pages, or as complex as constructing furniture out of books.  They also make great gifts.

Join the workshop today to learn the basics of book alteration.  We will have all of the materials you will need to at least get an altered book project started.  Bring any materials you have around the house that you may want to use to embellish your book.  Ephemera, objects, images, patterns, etc.

This process involves sharp knives, glue and paint. The workshop is not suitable for children. The minimum age is 15.
