Teachers and parents alike have long believed that boys and girls learn differently. Originally the topic of a South Brunswick Parent Academy workshop in 2010, the SBPA will once again present this workshop in its entirety, for those who may have missed it. The workshop, “The Minds of Boys: Strategies for Academic Success – Redux!” will be presented on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Crossroads North Middle School. In this workshop, participants will learn about the brain-based research that supports this belief that males and females do learn differently, and learn what the differences between the male and female brain tell us about learning. With this basis of information, specific strategies aimed at maximizing male learning, particularly as it relates to academics, will be discussed. A “can’t-miss” workshop for anyone interested in the education of boys!
The December 1st program will run from 7-8:30 p.m. and will be held at Crossroads North Middle School. As with all SBPA workshops, childcare will be provided. Interested parties can register online by visiting the District's Web site, www.sbschools.org and clicking the South Brunswick Parent Academy icon or by Emailing SBPA@sbparents.org. If you are emailing your registration, be sure to include your name, telephone number, email address, your child’s grade and the ages of any children that may require childcare (please note, childcare is not available for children under the age of 3).
The South Brunswick Parent Academy is a collaboration of the South Brunswick School District and Every Person Influences Children (EPIC). EPIC is a non-profit organization whose programming is funded in South Brunswick by the South Brunswick Board of Education and a grant from the South Brunswick Municipal Alliance, as part of the NJ Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
