UPDATE: 1 Teen Killed, 1 Injured In North Brunswick Shooting

An 18-year-old Plainfield resident was killed, and a 17-year-old injured in a shooting that took place Wednesday evening.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting at the Renaissance Glen Apartments in North Brunswick, that resulted in the death of a Plainfield resident. Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Joseph Battaglia of the North Brunswick Township Police Department announced Thursday.

Marc Atkins, 18, of Plainfield sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, police said.

A 17-year-old male juvenile from North Brunswick also sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound, said police.

According to the police, on Wednesday evening at approximately 7:30 p.m., authorities responded to Marc Drive following reports of a shooting.

The investigation is active and continuing.
