Fire Pit Causes Car Blaze In South Brunswick

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A South Brunswick resident’s car was damaged by flames from an outdoor fire pit on Wednesday, police said.

Around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, South Brunswick police officers responded to a residence on Major Road on reports of a car fire, police said.

The car was completely engulfed in flames and the Monmouth Junction Fire Department was called to the scene to help extinguish the fire, police said.

According to the police, the resident had a fire pit going just before the incident. He waited until the fire was extinguished and walked to another side of the property.

That’s when strong gusts of wind began to blow around the property and the resident discovered that his car was on fire, police said.

No other property was damaged, and no injuries were reported.

The South Brunswick police has asked residents to be careful when lighting outdoor fires.
