First-Ever Gaming Festival Set For South Brunswick This Weekend

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The South Brunswick Public Library will host its first Gaming Festival on Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Christopher J. Killmurray Building.

The event is open to teens in grades 9-12 and adults only, with no registration required, though some areas may have limited seating, according to the library.

A video game truck from Angel Arcade will be on-site from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., offering access to popular video games. Board games will be available to borrow from a central location and can be played in the program room or at designated tables outside.

The Teen Meeting Room will host party games throughout the day, including Jackbox games from 1 to 2 p.m., Gartic Phone from 3 to 4 p.m., and a possible additional Jackbox session from 4 to 5 p.m. depending on demand.

Trading card games, including Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon and others attendees bring, will be played in the Gambatese Room in an open session throughout the event.

The Learning Lab will host a one-shot role-playing game based on the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" franchise from 2 to 5 p.m., along with a workshop on how to be a game master from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Attendees can also borrow games from a table near the information desk with a library card or photo ID, limited to one game per person.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and Trustees of the Library.
