Forsgate Country Club’s Banks Course

Monroe Township, NJ —Forsgate Country Club’s historic Banks Course has been rated by GOLF Magazine as one of the best courses in New Jersey. For the first time in its biennial ranking of the Top 100 Courses in the U.S., GOLF Magazine’s panel of experts named the best courses in each state for 2020-2021. Forsgate’s Banks Course was listed at No. 13 out of the 15 courses recognized in New Jersey.

“This is a significant honor for us and it validates the commitment of our superintendent and staff in maintaining excellent playing conditions for members and guests throughout the year,” said Chris Schiavone, Forsgate’s Managing Partner. “Our Banks Course is an architectural treasure and we take seriously our stewardship role in preserving this classic gem.”

Designed in 1931, the Banks Course was the last design in the continental United States by Charles “Steam Shovel” Banks. The course is renowned for its challenging and exaggerated features, such as the steep and deeply recessed bunkers and enormous, undulating greens. The course recreates some of the historic and famous holes found at the great courses of Scotland and Europe.
