Fundraiser Launched For South Brunswick Church After Christmas Burglary

The event will benefit St. Cecilia's Parish following a break-in that stole collection money.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A community fundraiser is planned for March 14 to support St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, which was burglarized during the Christmas season.

The Tricky Tray fundraiser will take place from noon to 2 p.m. at Brandywine Princeton by Monarch, 155 Raymond Road in Princeton. Tickets cost $20 and include 10 tricky tray entries.

The March fundraiser will feature tricky tray prizes, live entertainment and refreshments. Attendees must RSVP by March 12 to 732-329-8888.

The burglary was discovered at 7 a.m. Dec. 22 when parishioners arrived for morning mass at the Monmouth Junction church, according to the South Brunswick Police Department. Burglars ransacked multiple rooms, climbed through ceiling tiles, smashed sheetrock and pried open closets and drawers. They stole the church's collection money from the previous week.

Police believe the break-in occurred between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Dec. 21. The South Brunswick Police Department and Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.

Authorities are offering a reward for information on the burglary.

While authorities didn’t provide a specific reward amount, the Middlesex County Crime Stoppers website said Crime Stoppers could pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information about unsolved crimes/any people involved in them.
