Garage Fire Shuts Down Georges Road Monday Morning
At 7:11 a.m., the Monmouth Junction Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in a detached garage.

South Brunswick, NJ - Georges Road between Distribution Way and Deans Lane was shut down for just over an hour Monday morning because of a garage fire that broke out there.
At 7:11 a.m. police and the Monmouth Junction Fire Department were dispatched to the fire at 866 Georges Road, said Captain Jim Ryan of the South Brunswick Police.
Fire had completely engulfed the two-car garage. Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to the single-family home, less than 30 feet away, said Scott Smith, Chief of the Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department. The garage, however, was completely destroyed by the blaze.

There were no injuries.
Georges Road was closed from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Monday and has since been reopened.

In addition to the Monmouth Junction Fire Department, the Kendall Park, Kingston and North Brunswick Fire Companies responded.
The fire is under investigation by the South Brunswick Township Fire Safety Bureau.
