Both were admitted to St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick with serious injuries.

The victims were attacked by the family’s pit bull and a boxer, police said.

Around 8:45 a.m. Saturday at a home on Avenue B, those two dogs began fighting with the family’s third dog, a pug, according to myCentralJersey.com.

When the girl tried to stop the dogs from fighting, the pit bull and boxer turned on her, according to that report.

Then it attacked the girl’s grandmother when she tried to help the child, according to myCentralJersey.com.

Other family members stopped the attack, and the township’s animal control office took custody of the dogs, police told the newspaper.
