Got A Call Saying You Have A Warrant? It's A Scam, Middlesex Co. Sheriff Says
The Middlesex County Sheriff's Office is alerting residents to a phone scam targeting people across the county.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — The Middlesex County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a phone scam in which callers fraudulently claim to represent the agency and demand payment for an active warrant.
The sheriff's office said it does not contact residents by phone to demand payment of any kind. The only official notification residents will receive regarding a warrant arrives by mail on sheriff's office letterhead — and those notices are informational only and will never request payment.
Residents with questions can contact the Division of Investigations at 732-745-4000 or sheriff's dispatch at 732-745-3271.
