House Struck By Lightning In South Brunswick

Breaking: Roads were flooded at Rt. 130 and Fresh Ponds Road, Rt. 1 at Promenade Blvd. and Summerfield Blvd. near Larkspur Drive.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — One house was struck by lightning in South Brunswick Wednesday evening after a series of fast-moving storms moved through the area. Nobody was injured in the incident, however.

All roads were open as of 7:45 p.m., but there were power outages in the Dayton area and several traffic signals were out on Rt. 130.

Roads were flooded at Rt. 130 and Fresh Ponds Road, Rt. 1 at Promenade Blvd, Summerfield Blvd near Larkspur Drive and Constable Road by Richford Road, said South Brunswick police.

In South River, Reid Street between Main Street and Dailey's Pond Park was closed due to flooding, and numerous other streets in South River were flooded. East Brunswick roads flooded, as well.

In Sayreville, several roads were flooded and drivers were warned by police to stay inside. Here was the scene in Old Bridge Wednesday night:
