How Will South Brunswick Road Construction Affect Your School Commute?
Students and parents should make sure their route to school isn't affected next week

As the first week of school winds down, many South Brunswick residents will start settling into their school year routines-- but watch out for road closures beginning on Monday, Sept. 12. South Brunswick Police Department sent out an alert notifying residents of the upcoming roadwork taking place on streets near South Brunswick High School.
School busses and residents will still have access to the roads as needed, with detours being put in place for most motorists. Students who don't take the bus to school might want to leave a little extra timing in the morning, to avoid tardy slips.
All construction is weather permitting, and the Weather Channel is currently predicting sunshine for the area.

Stouts Lane, where South Brunswick High School is located, and certain sections of Route 552 will be milled and paved, beginning Sept. 12 and wrapping up the next day. Work is scheduled to take place overnight between 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM, during which the road will be closed. Although not during the school day, student drivers should leave extra time in the morning to account for road conditions.
Ridge Road, between Perrine Road and Schalks Crossing Road, will also be milled and paved on Sept. 12 and 13. The nearly mile-long stretch of road will be closed to all non-residents between 6:00 AM and 2:00 PM. School busses will also have access to the closed portion, leaving bus riders unaffected. Car riders should plan to leave extra time to follow detours.

The quarter mile length of Ridge Road between Heathcote Road and Academy Street, and the short Prospect Street, will have the longest disruption. These sections will be closed Sept 13, 15 and 16 between 6:00 AM and 2:00 PM for milling and paving work. School busses will be running normally, but car riders should plan to follow detours or find an alternate route. Residents will still have access to roads.
