The Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey (IACFNJ) successfully hosted its annual summer picnic on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Mercer County Park, drawing more than 200 attendees from across the Central Jersey region. Families and friends from South and North Brunswick, Franklin Park, Princeton, Princeton Junction, Monroe, East Brunswick, East and West Windsor, and surrounding communities gathered to enjoy a day of cultural unity, entertainment, and delicious food.

For over two decades, IACFNJ has been a leading community organization, particularly popular among the younger generation of Indian Americans in the region. The Foundation is well-known for organizing signature events such as Navratri Garba, Independence Day celebrations, spring festivals, holiday parties, and the summer picnic, all aimed at fostering community harmony and celebrating cultural diversity.

This year’s picnic was a resounding success thanks to the dedication of the organizing committee, including Secretary Surabhi Agarwal, Joint Secretary Kirti Mehta, Joint Treasurer Dimple Patel, and Youth Committee Chairs Niyati Patel, Het Patel and Mayank & Rajesh Patel. Attendees enjoyed a wide range of activities and games for all age groups, including bingo, raffle prizes, live music, and singing. Highlights of the day included the live DJ entertainment by DJ Kush & Harsh, refreshing ice gola, ice cream, corn on the cob, watermelon, and a sumptuous traditional Indian dinner. The Patel Brothers in Hamilton was a Grand Sponsor for corn, watermelon & Vadilal Ice Kulfi.

In addition to cultural events, IACFNJ actively supports educational initiatives and humanitarian efforts. In 2025, the Foundation awarded scholarships to high-achieving students at South Brunswick and North Brunswick High Schools, recognizing academic excellence in memory of two of IACFNJ’s beloved leaders — Trustee Murthy Yerramilli and Treasurer Sunil Shah. At North Brunswick High School’s Senior Awards Night on June 3, 2025, scholarships were presented by Darshan Shah (son of Sunil Shah) and Executive Committee Member Mahendra Patel. At South Brunswick High School’s Senior Awards Night on June 11, 2025, Dr. Tushar Patel, President of IACFNJ, and Dimple Patel, Joint Treasurer, presented the awards.
