IACFNJ to Host Grand Navratri Garba Celebrations in South Brunswick on October 9 & 10, 2026

South Brunswick, NJ — September 13, 2026 — The Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey (IACFNJ) proudly announces its Grand Navratri Garba Celebrations, to be held on Friday and Saturday, October 9 and 10, 2026, at South Brunswick Township High School, New Jersey. The festivities will begin at 8:30 PM and continue until 1:30 AM, bringing thousands of community members together for two evenings of devotion, music, dance, culture, and community spirit. For the past 22 years, IACFNJ has been a pioneer and leading cultural organization in Central Jersey, dedicated to promoting Indian culture, preserving traditions, and embracing cultural diversity through community programs and celebrations conducted without any political or religious agenda.

Navratri is one of the most significant Hindu festivals and is traditionally dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga and her manifestations, including Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. The nine-night celebration symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, devotion over ego, and knowledge over ignorance. Across generations and communities, Navratri is celebrated through prayer, music, Garba, Raas, and gatherings that bring families and friends together. IACFNJ's Grand Navratri Garba Celebration will capture this spirit by creating an atmosphere reminiscent of Navratri celebrations throughout India while providing an opportunity for families and the broader community to celebrate their heritage together.

Thousands of community members from Central Jersey and surrounding communities are expected to attend, including families from Monroe, South Brunswick, North Brunswick, East Brunswick, East and West Windsor, Robbinsville, Princeton, Hightstown, Somerset, Franklin Park, and neighboring communities. Participants will enjoy traditional Garba, Dandiya-Raas, and Sanedo, creating an energetic and festive evening for people of all generations. One of the special features of the celebration is the participation of three generations dancing together, demonstrating how cultural traditions can bring grandparents, parents, and children together while keeping heritage alive for future generations.

The evening will begin with a traditional Aarti and prayer to Amba Maa, followed by Prasad, before the dance celebration begins. In addition to the cultural festivities, attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy a Indian delicacies from Jhopari Restaurant in Plainsboro and vendors and a shopping featuring clothing, jewelry, and other festive items. The celebration will also feature Best Dress and Best Dance competitions, sponsored by Royal Basmati Rice and Daawat Rice–LT Foods, with exciting prizes on both evenings. These activities are designed to make the celebration enjoyable for families, young people, seniors, and community members of all backgrounds.

Dignitaries, local elected officials, community leaders, and representatives from area organizations are expected to attend and support IACFNJ's continuing efforts to preserve and promote Indian culture and heritage in New Jersey. The event also reflects IACFNJ's broader mission of bringing people together through culture while encouraging understanding, friendship, diversity, and unity within the community.
