IHCNJ will hold health fair in SB on August 26, 2018

Indian Health Camp of New Jersey (IHCNJ) will hold their annual health fair and American Red Cross blood drive on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Durga Temple in Princeton, New Jersey; IHCNJ will organize 20th anniversary Gala with Bollywood Musical evening and dinner on December 1, 2018:

On Sunday, August 26, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., a health screening and disease awareness and prevention fair and blood drive by American Red Cross will be held at Durga Mandir, 4240 Route 27, Princeton, NJ 08540. The health fair will be organized by the Indian Health Camp of New Jersey in collaboration with Durga Mandir. Indian Health Camp of New Jersey, a non-profit organization under tax exempt code 501© (3) will hold this health camp for the sixth consecutive year at this location in South Brunswick township.

The health fair will be open to all pre-registered participants above the age of 40 who are uninsured or underinsured. The health screening will include blood test, EKG, physical and dental exams and mental health screening and counseling, vision screening for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, cardiology and physical therapy counseling, various types of cancer screening and prevention education, chronic disease self management via ask your doctor, diabetes and stroke education, HIV testing and education, dietary counseling, pharmacy counseling and many other ancillary services to pre-registered qualified participants. The physicians and other allied health care professionals from various specialties of internal medicine, mental health, cardiology, ophthalmology, endocrinology, gynecology, neurology, urology, physical therapy, dietary and nutritional specialist, pharmacist, phlebotomists, EKG techs, medical assistants, nurses, social workers and medical students will provide their services on this day to screen and educate patients on diabetes, hypertension, cardiac diseases, high cholesterol, various types of cancer screening and education and other chronic debilitating diseases specifically targeted to the South Asian population. The blood test reports will be reviewed by the physicians and mailed it to all participants with a counseling note, if any abnormalities are detected in the test.

Indian Health Camp of NJ and their hard working committee members and volunteers will provide their self-less and dedicated service to support the health fair activities on this day. The dedicated team from the State of New Jersey Commission for the Blind will provide thorough eye screening to qualified patients on this day to promote their noble cause of preventing blindness in the community. American Red Cross collaborate a blood drive on this day to collect more than 50 units of blood at the temple hall which is open to all. All are requested and highly recommended to log in schedule their own appointment via clicking American Red Cross Website at https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-time or walk-ins are also welcome or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). The local hospitals and other non-profit organizations will participate in this health fair to provide their specialized screening services. Rupen Patel of Accurate Diagnostic Labs will provide basic blood test services on this day. Al pre-registered participants are requested to arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. on the day of the screening and recommended to be fasting from mid-night. The participants are advised to continue to take their prescription medications and encouraged to drink water even in the morning of the blood test. The breakfast and lunch will be provided to all participants and volunteers.

The completed registration form can be mailed to IHCNJ, P.O. Box 5686, Hillsborough, NJ 08844 on or before the deadline of August 15, 2018. Indian Health Camp of New Jersey will hold their last health fair for this year on November 18, 2018, at Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Secaucus, NJ. The influenza vaccination will be offered to qualified participants with a nominal administrative cost during the Secaucus temple health fair. For further details and registration form for this health fair will be available after completion of Durga Temple Health Fair. Indian Health Camp of NJ will organize 20th Anniversary Gala with Bollywood Musical evening and dinner at Balaji Temple Auditorium on December 1, 2018. More information on 20th anniversary program will be announced in the near future.
