Important Social Media Discussion Dec. 9 At Crossroads North

'If you're only able to make one event, make it this one,' urges South Brunswick superintendent Scott Feder. Dec. 9 at Crossroads North.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The South Brunswick school district will hold what superintendent Scott Feder is calling "a vitally important topic:" Teenagers and the use of social media.

"I cannot express enough just how important it is to learn about the good and the potential concerns that exist within the realm of social media for your children," said South Brunswick schools superintendent Feder. "If you are only able to make one event, make it this one and join us in the learning around how we as parents can support and protect our children in the ever growing world of social media. You will even learn some helpful tips for your own use. See what your children are doing with social media and join us for this event."

A follow-up to last year’s Social Media Symposium, the workshop will provide parents and students with information and strategies for setting controls and limits on children’s use of technology. Presented by District administrators, staff and students, in collaboration with the South Brunswick Police Department, the symposium is open to parents and students, and will offer a series of sessions for each group. Parents and students will attend several sessions and discussions during the symposium, on topics such as cyber-bullying, parenting with and without technology, the realities of cyber-safety with the SB Police Dept. and a Q/A session with SBHS students on the good and bad aspects of social media.
