Jamesburg Girl, 8, Buys Police Officer's Dinner
But then the police officer learned something very surprising about this little girl.

JAMESBURG, NJ - This past Friday night, Mikayla Raji and her mother were having dinner at Villa Borgese in Helmetta when a Jamesburg police officer stopped in for a quick bite. Mikayla, 8, asked her mother if they could pick up the officer's tab.
"When Patrolman Quinn went to pay for his food, the employees told him that his food was anonymously paid for," Jamesburg police wrote on Facebook. "Although unnecessary, the gesture is greatly appreciated by all of our officers."
Mikayla was dining with her mother, Mimi Jimenez-Raji, when Ptl. Quinn arrived to pick up his food. Mikayla immediately greeted Ptl. Quinn with a hello and a smile.

But that's not the end of the story.
Mikayla and Ptl. Quinn had a brief chat before he left. The Jamesburg police officer was shocked to learn that Mikayla's father, Thomas Raji, was a police officer in Perth Amboy, and was tragically killed in the line of duty by a drunk driver on Aug. 22, 2008. Mikayla never got the chance to meet her father because she was born in March of 2009, seven months after he was killed. Mikayla's mom was also a Perth Amboy police officer at the time of her husband's death, and is now retired.

Since then, Jamesburg police started this GoFundMe page to help pay for Mikayla's college education. So far they've raised nearly $1,000 of their $10,000 goal. Mikayla was also invited to to lead the Memorial Day parade in their town, as a way to honor her fallen father.
