Joyce Mehta Is Newest South Brunswick BOE Member

Sitting board members Arthur Robinson, Deven Patel and Pat Del Piano were also able to keep their seats yesterday.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Joyce Mehta is the newest member of the South Brunswick School Board, winning 3,700 votes to Anil Patel’s 1,937. Patel has tried several times now, unsuccessfully, to win a seat on the South Brunswick Board of Education.

Sitting Board members Arthur Robinson, Deven Patel and Pat Del Piano were also able to keep their seats yesterday, beating challengers Deep Shukla and Mahendra Patel.

  • Robinson won the most votes: 4,067 votes
  • Deven Patel: 3,549 votes
  • Del Piano: 3,430 votes
  • Shukla: 2,457 votes
  • Joyce Mehta: 3,700 votes
  • Anil Patel: 1,937 votes
  • Mahendra Patel: 1,628 votes

And South Brunswick Democratic Mayor Christopher Killmurray and Democratic Township Councilman Ken Bierman were able to keep their seats from Republican challengers John O’Sullivan and Julie Ferrara. Killmurray was appointed mayor earlier this year after the death of longtime South Brunswick Mayor Frank Gambatese at age 81.
