Kendall Park Fire Department To Host Open House In South Brunswick

On Saturday, there will also be free fire safety giveaways for the kids, hotdogs, popcorn, sand art and more.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Department will host an open house for community members on Saturday. The open house will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the main fire station, 125 New Road, Kendall Park, to spread awareness of fire safety during Fire Prevention Week.

Residents can visit with Sparky the Fire Dog, meet volunteer firefighters, and learn about all the fire equipment on display.

There will also be free fire safety giveaways for the kids, a free smoke detector raffle, hotdogs, popcorn, kids T-shirts, and sand art.

Fire prevention week has been observed since 1922, and in 1925, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Fire Prevention Week a national observance.

Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of Oct. 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire of Oct. 8, 1871, which killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless and destroyed more than 17,400 structures.
