Lady Vikings U14 End Season in Style

Lady Vikings make it to third championship game in summer tournament play, capture Raritan Bay Explosion Girls of Summer Tournament.

The South Brunswick U14 Lady Vikings fast pitch softball team finished their summer tournament season with style.  The Vikings won the championship of the Raritan Bay Explosion Girls of Summer Tournament. 

The Lady Vikings were undefeated for the entire weekend tourney, posting an overall 5-0 record.  This marked the third time this season that the Lady Vikings have gone to the championship game in their tournaments. 

They defeated the Toms River Tornadoes, Manalapan Belles, and Ewing Edge in the seeding round on Saturday to capture the overall number one seed for Sunday's elimination bracket.

On Sunday, the girls were simply unstoppable as they beat Ewing Edge 10-0 in the semi-final game and then stopped the Central Jersey Chaos team 8-3 in the championship game. 

For the weekend's games, the Lady Vikings outscored their opponents by a collective score of 52-18.  The team got incredible pitching from Amanda Fisher, Kristen Miele, and Shannon Pilsbury.  The team's defense was strong led by infielders Jenny Hamilton, Jenna Mastronardi, Sydney Demkowicz, Jordan Schatzman, and Casey Notarianni.  Strong outfield play was evident from Allison Boni, Emily Grossi, and Nikki Cavett.  Callie Hamilton and Notarianni handled the catching duties very well.

The team relies on pitching, defense, and timely hitting and they use a very aggressive style of baserunning.  Their biggest attribute, however, may be the fact that they have an excellent team concept and teamwork is very evident in their play. 

Most of them have played together for years and they work very well as a unit.  The team is Coached by Mike Hamilton with Patti Notarianni, Rich Fisher, and Joe Mastronardi.
