Local Fire Company Hosts Food Drive For South Brunswick Pantry
The Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Company is organizing a food drive to help families facing food insecurity this Holiday season.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — With many community members facing food insecurity due to the pandemic, a local volunteer fire Company is ensuring no family goes hungry this Holiday season.
The Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Company (KPVFC), in collaboration with Home Depot, is collection non-perishable food items to donate to South Brunswick Social Services.
“We usually partner with Home Depot for various outreach programs. This year we decided to do a food pantry drive. It’s our first,” said volunteer firefighter Ali Moosavi.

Since Nov. 18, the KPVFC has been collecting food donations from community members. The first pick up took place on Wednesday.
“We’ve had a fantastic response so far,” said chief Christopher Perez.

Perez said the need for food in the community has been overwhelming due to the pandemic. “We spoke to the social service director who told us there’s a big need for food this year,” he said.
Donation boxes are placed at Home Depot and outside the KPVFC, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 18 is the last day donations will be collected.
Donations for the following items are needed:
- Coffee
- Canned fruit
- Canned Milk
- Parmalat/Borden milk boxes
- Macaroni and cheese
- Pasta (whole wheat preferred)
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Soups
- Stop & Shop gift cards
- Canned tomatoes
- Canned vegetables/corn
- Campbell soups
- Juice boxes
- Brown rice and quinoa
- Pancake mix and syrup
- Oatmeal
- Cereal
- Personal products (toothpaste, shampoo etc.)
The KPVFC hopes to receive more donations in the next coming days.
“We hope to receive more donations so we can help families during this tough time,” said Perez.
Meanwhile, officers from the South Brunswick PBA Local 166 donated groceries to the South Brunswick Food Bank to help out community members facing food insecurity.
The food pantry is also in need of monetary donations and gift cards. Monetary donations may be made by clicking here.
