The Material Handling Society of New Jersey and CBRE New Jersey are excited to announce the first New Jersey LogistXGames, a unique four-event competition geared at promoting the overwhelming value of the logistics industry and recognizing the “best” practitioners in the region.
The New Jersey games, sponsored by Forsgate Industrial Partners, will be held on March 7, 2014, at 160 Herrod Boulevard, Dayton, N.J. The event will commence at 9 a.m., with an address by South Brunswick Mayor Frank Gambatese, and will last until about 2 p.m.

Some of the events the teams will compete in include the Pallet Puzzle Sprint, the Pallet Jack Relay, the Pick/Pack Hurdle and the Box Put. The Pallet Jack Relay will challenge the teams as they travel through an obstacle course while keeping their pallet of boxes in place.
Employees located throughout the region from corporations such as Tiffany & Co., Winebow, Inc., GMB, Lifetime Brands, Sleepy’s, Simon and Schuster, NFI, Halls Warehouse and others will gather in the central Jersey location for this unique opportunity to enhance pride and teamwork in a fun and energetic setting.

“LogistXGames provides an opportunity for workers in logistics and distribution to showcase their skill and the importance of their work, while also encouraging development and investment in the industry,” said Allison Clancy, president of the Material Handling Society of New Jersey. “The games are definitely meant to be fun, but also serve as an effective way of communicating the immense value this sector has to New Jersey business as a whole.”
The first LogistXGames were held in 2007 in Louisville and were then expanded to Indianapolis and Cincinnati last year. After much success in all three locations, MHS and CBRE New Jersey are eager to bring the event to the Garden State, where logistics and distribution operations are so vital to day-to-day economic operations.
“Like Louisville, Indianapolis and Cincinnati, the central Jersey region is particularly strong in the logistics sector,” said Mindy Lissner, executive vice president, CBRE New Jersey. “The region has extensive interstate access, as well as access to prime distribution waterways and railroads.”
For companies wishing to sponsor the event, four levels of sponsorship are available with prices ranging from $500-$5000. Participating teams will be comprised of 4-10 members, and additional spectators from participating organizations will pay $15 to attend the event. Spectators from non-participating companies who choose to attend will pay $25.
To provide a sponsorship for the event or to register as a spectator, visit the Material Handling Society New Jersey website, www.mhsnj.com, and click the upcoming events link. All proceeds from the games after event costs will go to the MHSNJ Scholarship Fund. For more information on the first New Jersey LogistXGames contact Jamie Dennison at jamie.dennison@cbre.com
