Mahin Master's Bharatanatyam/Arangetram held on July 21, 2018

Nrityakala Dance Academy organized Bharatanatyam Arangetram, Indian Classical Dance for Graduation of teenager Mahin Master of South Brunswick, NJ on July 21, 2018:

On Saturday, July 21, 2018, one of the best Bharatanatyam Arangetram performance of 18-year-old young, talented and renowned dancer Mahin Master was witnessed by more than 500 people at the state-of-the art JoAnn Magistro Performing Ars Center in East Brunswick, NJ.

Bina Master, Guru and mother of Mahin Master of Nrityakala Dance Academy of South Brunswick, NJ presented this evening program for more than three hours on a beautifully decorated stage to celebrate Indian Classical Dance Graduation. The program started with beautiful Ganesh Vandana, Pushpanjali followed by more than 10 different dances on various religious themes and representing various Gods and Goddesses in various Taalam and Raagam as well as various languages to include Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit and Tamil were beautifully choreographed by Bina Master and performed brilliantly by talented dancer Mahin Master who was also a past winner of Boogie-Woogie Dance Competition. The live music were brilliantly performed by renowned musicians from India, E.P. Sudev Warrier on vocal, K.S. Sudhaman on Mridangam and Pathanjali Chittoor on flute.

Since childhood, art has been an integral part of Mahin’s upbringing. His interest in dance developed through self-learning, watching other students learn Bharatanatyam in his mother’s dance studio. In these young years, he learned various types of Indian folk and Bollywood style dances. His passion for dance grew over the years, and Mahin received rigorous training in other dance forms including Ballet, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, Latin Jazz, Lyrical, etc. in New York City. Because of this versatility, he became a very creative and sought after choreographer and dance teacher. Mahin is an accomplished dancer who has won many awards and recognitions in dance competitions including those airing on ZEE TV and SONY TV. In recent years, he was a lead dancer in flash mob at Times Square, which was later featured live on NBC in “Today Show”. He is also a captain of his high-school varsity dance team. His love for art also extends beyond dance as Mahin acted in several short and feature films and has modelled for national advertisements. He received his acting training from the esteemed Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York. Dance is Mahin’s life and it defines him as a person.

Bina Master is the founder of Nrityakala Academy holds a Masters in Fine Arts (Alankar) degree from the Performing Arts Institute of Vadodara, India and uses her knowledge and experience towards creating unique choreography and judging several dance competitions. Bina and her students including Mahin has been providing their dances to various community events to support organizations like IACFNJ for the past 10 years.
