Police say drivers should seek alternate routes. Ramps and lanes will be closed because of the work on Route 18 near Route 1.

“The Route 18 Bridge over Route 1 superstructure will be demolished and new prefabricated superstructure units will be installed over weekends,’’ according to a notice from East Brunswick police.

Two lanes of traffic will be open on Route 18 north and south, but 5 minute stoppages are expected.
