Man Breaking Into North Brunswick Homes While Residents Sleep

North Brunswick police think the man may be operating in nearby towns, as well.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — There have been several burglaries in North Brunswick in the past few weeks, all of which have occurred at night and all while the homes were occupied.

All of the burglaries have taken place in the area of Georges Road/Rt.130. But North Brunswick police think the man may be operating in nearby towns, as well, and some homes may have been entered without the homeowners realizing it.

"In every instance, the suspect entered and remained in the home while the residents were sleeping," North Brunswick police wrote in a Nixle alert sent out Thursday. "To date, we have had several of these incidents. At no time has a resident ever been awoken or contacted by the suspect."

The male suspect has stolen alcohol and car keys during his burglaries. In most cases, he breaks into the home, steals the car keys and then drives off in the resident's car.

"We believe that the same suspect has also committed a few of these burglaries in neighboring towns as well," police said. "We have recovered evidence from the incidents reported, and are actively following those leads. There may also be the possibility that he has entered some homes without anyone realizing it, and therefore not reported it to us."

Police sent out these surveillance photos from break-ins, and are asking anyone to report anything they may know.

"We ask residents to lock all first-floor windows during the overnight hours, and pay attention to any/all suspicious noises overnight. If you see any suspicious persons around your home, please report them to police. Do not attempt to confront the suspect," police said.
