Man Charged With Murder At North Brunswick Hotel

Demond Gray, 43, of New Brunswick was charged with one count of first-degree murder, said authorities.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A New Brunswick man was charged with murder at a hotel on Sunday, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Joseph Battaglia of the North Brunswick Township Police Department announced.

Demond Gray, 43, of New Brunswick was arrested and charged today with one count of first-degree murder.

The incident happened on March 20, at 12 p.m. when officers from the North Brunswick Police Department responded to the Farrington Inn following an emergency call for an unresponsive male, police said.

On their arrival, police said they found Abdul Conteh, 60, of Somerset who showed signs of physical injury. Conteh was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to an investigation conducted by police, Gray assaulted and killed Conteh in the hotel room. The cause of death remains undetermined pending the completion of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Gray is presently lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center where he is being held pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court.
