Man Killed In Shootout With Police At South Brunswick Motel: NJ AG
The incident happened when officers tried to execute an arrest warrant at a motel in South Brunswick.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A man was killed in a shootout with police at a motel in South Brunswick on Wednesday, according to the NJ Attorney General’s Office. The man’s identity has not been released yet.
Around 2:05 p.m. members of the United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Task Force, arrived at MHO Suites on Route 1 South in Monmouth Junction to execute an arrest warrant for a suspect in several felony offenses, the AG’s office said.
At 2:47 p.m., officers exchanged gunfire with the man. He was pronounced dead around 4:29 p.m. Authorities recovered two firearms near the body, investigators said.

No officers were injured during the shooting.
"The incident is highly unusual for our community. The threat to law enforcement can come in any place and at any time," Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said.

The NJ AG’s office is currently investigating the incident, as it does in any incident where a person dies during an encounter with police.
