Man Walking Dog Hit By Car In South Brunswick, Dog Bites Driver: PD

When the driver tried to render aid to the man he hit, he was bitten by the dog, police said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 24-year-old man walking his dog was hit by a car, following which the dog bit the driver, South Brunswick Police said.

On Thursday morning, at 7:35 a.m. the 24-year-old North Brunswick man was crossing Route 1 with his dog when he was struck by a 34-year-old Kendall Park man.

The New Brunswick man, who works in the area, was walking on the southbound side of Route 1 at Beekman Road. The traffic signal turned red for Route 1, when the man and his husky began to cross the highway. The Kendall Park man, driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla, was turning left off of Beekman Road onto Route 1 north and did not see the man and his dog because of the sun glare, police said.

The Kendall Park man immediately stopped his car to render aid to the New Brunswick man, but as he neared, the husky bit the driver, police said.

South Brunswick EMS and paramedics responded to the scene and took the New Brunswick man to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He is listed in stable condition. The Kendall Park man was uninjured from the dog bite, police said.
