NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A Middlesex County sheriff's officer who lives in North Brunswick has been suspended from his job due to charges against him of insurance fraud, the county confirmed to Patch this week.
Miguel Figueroa has been charged with insurance fraud and theft after allegedly getting reimbursed by Horizon Blue Cross for medical treatment he never received. This is according to a criminal complaint filed in Somerset County, which was first reported on a blog run by John Paff, a respected government watchdog in New Jersey.
"The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of the charges that have been brought against Officer Miguel Figueroa," said Middlesex County Sheriff Mildred Scott in a statement. "As a result of the charges brought, Officer Figueroa has been suspended from his duties, without pay. As this involves a personnel matter, the Sheriff’s Office will have no further comment at this time."
