N.J. Student: School Did Nothing After She Was Labeled 'ISIS'

Student says she was "unknowingly taken a picture of at lunch, in school, by another student, and posted on Snapchat as 'ISIS.' "

A New Jersey student says a school district won’t take action after a photo of her was posted on social media with the word “Isis.”

Saira Ali said on Facebook that, after 4 months of “investigation,” the New Jersey school district has come to the conclusion “that when I was unknowingly taken a picture of at lunch, in school, by another student, and posted on Snapchat as ’ISIS’ I was not ’harassed, intimidated, or bullied.’

“Apparently, according to the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, it’s entirely acceptable to take pictures of strangers and post them on social media with derogatory, inaccurate, slurs,“ she wrote.

The Woodbridge School District told nj.com that it could find no evidence of harassment because the perpetuator could not be found.

Isis stands for “Islamic State in Iraq and Syria,” known for the kidnappings and murders of journalists and aid workers.

Ali also posted a picture of the Colonia High School report that said “the district did not find evidence supporting a claim of harassment, intimidation or bullying.”
