'Misleading' Postcard Circulating In North Brunswick

The township said it has not sent any postcard to residents regarding a "water update" notice.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - North Brunswick is warning of a "misleading" postcard being circulated to homeowners around town.

Titled “Water Update,” the postcard says it hasn't been unable to reach residents and asks them to respond immediately with contact information.

"This postcard was not sent by the Township of North Brunswick. The Township does not solicit 'Water Updates,'" the township said in a Facebook post.

"North Brunswick, through its partnership with American Water Contract Services, does send a Consumer Confidence Report (also posted on the Township website) annually to residents, providing an update on the Township’s water quality."

The company on the postcard, Atlantic Water Products (AWP), solicits water treatment products for residential use and asks for the name and phone number required to set up an appointment to conduct water testing, the township said.

North Brunswick officials said the postcard’s message was "misleading and we urge residents to not respond to it. Also, we urge all residents to never provide their personal information to strangers."
