More than 200 people attended IACFNJ summer picnic on July 1st
More than 200 people attended IACFNJ summer picnic at Mercer County Park on Sunday, July 1, 2018; Sponsored two scholarships for NBHS
Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey - IACFNJ held its annual summer picnic at Mercer County Park on Sunday, July 1, 2018. The fun-filled eight hours outdoor picnic in more than 100 degrees weather was attended by more than 200 people from the local communities of heavily populated Indian Americans in Central Jersey.
IACFNJ has been a leading community organization in Central Jersey and has been very popular among young generation of Indian Americans in South Brunswick, North Brunswick, Monroe, Princeton, Princeton Junction and surrounding areas of heavily populated South Asians in North Brunswick, Franklin Park, Princeton, Princeton Junction, Monroe, East Brunswick and East and West Windsor to have a successful Navratri Garba and many other community events for more than 15 years. IACFNJ has been successfully organizing summer picnic, Independence Day celebration, holiday party and spring festival to bring the community together for 15 years. This year’s summer picnic was well organized and well attended and enjoyed by members from all age groups throughout the day with so many fun-filled activities to include games for the kids, bingo, prizes, live DJ and music and singing. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were provided to all participants free of charge to all members. The delicious and mouth-watering menu included gota, papdi no lot, sev usal, beverages, watermelon, corn, puri shak, srikhand, pulao, rice kadhi, and pasta for kids throughout the day. The live entertainment was provided by young and talented DJ Darshan and Ashish from Desi Experiment LLC for more than six hours with wonderful Bollywood old and new songs.
The executive committee and committee members worked so hard to bring this year’s picnic a huge success. The current executive board includes Hitesh Patel, Chairman, Dr. Tushar Patel, President, Mahesh Patel and Deven Patel as Vice President, Mac Shah, Secretary, Rajesh Patel as Treasurer and Surabhi Agarwal as Joint Secretary. The pillars and founders of the organization and trustees include Raojibhai Patel, Rewo Nawani, Murthy Yerramilli and Jadhav Chaudhary. This year, IACFNJ sponsored two scholarships for high school kids in North Brunswick to support talented kids based on their merits in various subjects. Next year, this will be extended to South Brunswick High School and other local towns.

Dr. Tushar Patel appreciated all committee members and volunteers for their hard work and dedicated community services to make this event a huge success. IACFNJ continues to organize cultural events for the central jersey community to bring everyone together and celebrate cultural diversity and harmony. VVN Alumni USA were generously supported this event along with NY Life and other committee members who provided monetary support.
The upcoming events of IACFNJ will be India Independence Day celebration will be on Sunday, August 19, from 11 to 2 p.m., Navratri Garba in October and holiday party in November 2018.
