Motorist Drove 108 MPH On Route 1 In South Brunswick, Cops Say
South Brunswick police blotter: cops say a Somerset County man was intoxicated as he drove at speeds reaching 108 mph on Route 1.

South Brunswick police arrested a Somerset County man who they say was intoxicated as he drove at speeds reaching 108 mph on Route 1.
According to a news release from Capt. James Ryan:
At 2 a.m. Thursday, Sgt. Richard Hutchison observed a black BMW speeding on Route 1 near Independence Way. Hutchison’s radar recorded the vehicle speed at 108 mph on Route 1 north. The sergeant pulled onto Route 1 to follow, but the BMW exited the highway onto Ridge Road. The sergeant caught up to the BMW on Ridge Road and Schalks Crossing Road. Hutchison spoke with the driver, Vishal Pathak, 31, of Franklin. The sergeant detected the odor of alcohol on Pathak’s breath and had Pathak perform field sobriety test. Based on the field tests, Pathak was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was also issued summonses, charging him with reckless driving and speeding. He was released, pending his first court appearance.

At 12:05 a.m. Thursday South Brunswick police responded to the Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery on Route 1 for a report of a customer refusing to leave. Officers arrived and spoke with management who said they had asked a customer to leave, but the customer refused. Officers spoke to the customer, Joseph Bucci, 39, of South Brunswick, who initially refused to leave. After initial hesitation, Bucci walked outside the establishment. Once outside he began to curse and came at the officers with a closed fists, yelling for them to lock him up. Bucci was placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct. He was transported to police headquarters.
