New Road Remains Closed In South Brunswick

As South Brunswick continues to dig itself out, New Road between Wheeler Road and Rt. 1 remains closed due to wires and trees down.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick is continuing to dig itself out from the storm and many roads have been opened.

However, New Road between Wheeler Road and Rt. 1 remains closed due to wires and trees in the roadway. Avoid the area and plan alternative route. All South Brunswick Public Schools and Township Offices were open Friday.

South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management has rescinded the local State of Emergency as of 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Things have returned to somewhat normal for the majority of the Township. Two of the major ongoing issues are the lack of power for nearly 250 homes according to PSEG, and New Road remains completely blocked between Route 1 and Wheeler Road.

The municipal building and the Library can be used as warming centers Friday for anyone needing some heat or to charge electronic devices.

Public work crews continue to clear trees from roads and public areas. Board of Education crews are working to clear trees from school properties. There are PSEG crews working around the Township to restore full power.
