SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A new Wawa store opened Thursday in North Brunswick, according to a company press release.

Located on 933 Livingston Ave., the new store will employ around 40 associates with competitive pay, benefits and the opportunity to stock through the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan.

“At Wawa, our core purpose is to go beyond filling orders to fulfill lives, every day, and that has never been stronger than now as our 900 stores united together to provide support in the form of food, fuel, food donations, funds and the one-of-a-kind Wawa experience that delivers care and hope no matter the circumstances,” said Chris Gheysens, President and CEO, Wawa.

The store opened at 8 a.m. with an official ribbon cutting, as associates stood six feet apart to adhere to social distancing rules.

To mark the occasion, the company released a virtual slideshow on social media. Council President Ralph Andrews is seen welcoming Wawa to the neighborhood by congratulating the team, and building the first ceremonial hoagie.

Wawa also acknowledged the North Brunswick Police Department, North Brunswick Fire Company and Community Fire and Rescue, with “Hoagies for Heroes,” donated lunch and a $1,000 contribution to charities of their choice.

“As a new store opens, we will continue to provide comfort and a sense of normalcy in the safest way possible, while listening to what our friends and neighbors need most throughout these challenging times,” said Gheysens.
