No Update In Case Of Anti-Semitic Package In Highland Park

The box was found Nov. 9 in a woman's front yard. The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said Monday there were no updates to the case.

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ — The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said Monday that there are no new updates to an incident that occurred in Highland Park last month, where a Jewish woman received a package with dog excrement inside and anti-Semitic slurs written on it.

Elaine Dean of Highland Park found the package in her front yard on the morning of Nov. 9. She said it was a sealed box full of garbage, dog feces and cigarette butts. She also said foul language, a swastika and a middle finger were drawn on it.

Dean is Jewish. She also said she had been receiving complaints about her four dogs, which are often out in her front yard.

Highland Park police were called and the case has been handed over to the Middlesex County prosecutor's office, which is investigating this as a bias incident. Highland Park has a large Jewish population. A spokeswoman for the prosecutor told Patch Monday, Dec. 11 that there was no new update in the case.

“It means somebody is either playing a sick joke or it’s going to continue,” Dean told News 12. “I hope I’m not the first to deal with this. I hope I’m the last."
