North Brunswick Man Killed In Rt. 130 Crash Thursday

Breaking: Kenneth Birkett, 38, of North Brunswick was killed in the Rt. 130 crash that backed up traffic in the area Thursday morning.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man was killed in the Rt. 130 car crash that backed up traffic for hours Thursday morning throughout North Brunswick.

Kenneth Birkett, 38, of North Brunswick was killed when he crashed on the southbound side of Rt. 130 near Finnegans Lane at 6:14 a.m., North Brunswick police Capt. Brian Hoiberg confirmed to Patch. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Birkett was headed northbound in his 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he crashed, but it was not known how he ended up in the southbound lanes. This was a single-car accident and no other vehicles were affected.

Traffic on Rt. 130 was tied up for hours Thursday morning and the road was shut down for the investigation.
