Oak Tree Rd. Home Burglarized; Bicyclist Hit on Rt. 27; Cars Entered in Whispering Woods
Over the weekend, a bike rider was hit on Rt. 27 and Raymond Rd.; a home was broken into on Oak Tree Rd. and cars were entered in Royal Oaks

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - South Brunswick police are investigating a burglary to a home on Oak Tree Road this past Saturday evening. At 11 p.m. police responded to a burglar alarm at the home. Arriving officers found the front door open and one bedroom ransacked. Police determined the suspect gained entry to the home by pushing in the screen on a second-floor window. The homeowners were not home at the time of the burglary. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Dennis Yuhasz at (732) 329-4000 ext. 7485.
In other South Brunswick news released by the police on Monday, a 67-year-old man riding a bicycle was hit by a car Saturday on Rt. 27 near Raymond Road. It was a hit and run, police said; the driver did not stop. The bicyclist, an East Brunswick resident, was riding north on Rt. 27 near Raymond Road when a vehicle struck his rear tire and knocked him from the bike. The victim was thrown to the roadway and received abrasions and contusions to his back and shoulder. He was treated and released from an area hospital.
A witness described the vehicle as a white pickup truck, possibly a landscaping truck, with commercial writing on the side. The truck turned onto Raymond Road and was last seen headed towards Rt. 1. And yet again, unlocked cars are being entered in the Whispering Woods and Royal Oaks developments. South Brunswick police received eight reports of unlocked vehicles being entered Thursday and Friday. Several of the thefts were reported in the Whispering Woods complex as well as Royal Oaks development. In each case the suspect rummaged through the vehicle and took items easily accessible. Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles at night.
