Parent Academy Returns for a Second Helping of Sugar & Spice

Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to the very informative and successful, “Sugar & Spice” workshop held last year, the South Brunswick Parent Academy will once again presents, “Sugar & Spice and Not Everything Nice? Understanding & Raising Successful Daughters,” on Wednesday, March 14 at Crossroads South Middle School. 

In this enlightening workshop, participants will continue to learn about the brain-based research that supports the belief that males and females do learn differently, and discover what these gender differences tell us about learning.

From this common ground, attention will be turned to the girls: offering specific information and strategies to participants to help them navigate the delicate balance among girls’ physical, social, emotional, cultural and academic needs and wants. A “can’t-miss” workshop for anyone interested in the education of girls. 

The program will run from 7-8:30 p.m. and will be held at Crossroads South Middle School Auditorium. As with all SBPA workshops, childcare will be provided.

The SBPA returns to Crossroads North Middle School and brings its attention back to boys, as it closes out the 2012-13 school year with “The Minds of Boys II: Purposeful Parenting and Helping Our Sons Fulfill Their Potential (Redux!)”  on April 4. 

The South Brunswick Municipal Alliance, Every Parent Influences Children (EPIC) and the South Brunswick School District have partnered to offer a series of workshops under the umbrella of the South Brunswick Parent Academy (SBPA). The Academy is founded on the concept of “Solving the Puzzle of Parenting … One Piece at a Time.”  In its seventh year, SBPA continues to offer parenting workshops, as well as District workshops on curriculum, instruction and safe and caring schools.  This year’s workshops have focused on parenting issues for the 21st Century.

EPIC is a non-profit organization whose programming is funded in South Brunswick by the South Brunswick Board of Education and a grant from the South Brunswick Municipal Alliance, as part of the NJ Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
