Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Route 1 South Brunswick

On Tuesday evening, a woman was struck and killed while attempting to cross Route 1 at Deans Lane.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 1 on Tuesday night, police said.

According to the police, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, a 60-year-old woman was attempting to cross Route 1 at Deans Lane, when she were struck by a vehicle. Police said local motorists, including a doctor, had stopped to help the pedestrian. On reaching the scene, officers from the police department and EMS continued lifesaving efforts. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

On Tuesday night, Route 1 was closed in both directions from Northumberland Way to Henderson Road due to the accident.
