Pick-up Truck, Commuter Van Collide On Rt. 130 In South Brunswick

A pick-up truck drove into a stopped commuter van, which then drove into a third car Wednesday morning on Rt. 130 in South Brunswick.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A pick-up truck drove into a stopped commuter van, which then drove into a third car Wednesday morning on Rt. 130 in South Brunswick Township, police said, in a crash that snarled traffic throughout the area this morning.

The crash occurred at 6:44 a.m. today on Rt. 130 southbound just before Georges Road, according to South Brunswick police.

A 50-year-old Dayton man was driving his GMC pick-up truck south when it collided with a commuter van that was stopped at the light, South Brunswick police said. The commuter van, operated by Can Cun Transportation out of Somerset, then struck a third vehicle.

The commuter van was loaded with passengers, eight of which reported minor injuries. Two of the cars had to be towed from the scene by Dean's Garage.

In addition to South Brunswick police, the South Brunswick First Aid Squad, North Brunswick First Aid Squad, Monroe First Aid Squad and Monmouth Junction Fire Department all responded, due to the large number of injured people.

Those injured were divided between the first aid squads and transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
