Ridge Road Hit-and-Run Suspect Wanted

A bicyclist was hit by a car and suffered a head injury. The driver fled, police said.

South Brunswick, NJ - South Brunswick Police ask for the public’s help in identifying the driver who struck and injured a bicyclist Monday morning at the intersection of Ridge and Perrine roads.

The bike rider was hit by a car at 11:30 a.m. Monday, and the driver of the silver/grey four-door sedan continued down Ridge Road to Rt. 1 without stopping, police said.

The bicyclist, a 64 year-old man, was transported by South Brunswick EMS and paramedics to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was treated for a head injury and later released.

“We want the driver to come forward and explain what happened,” said Sergeant Gary Holsten of the South Brunswick Traffic Safety Bureau, who described the crash as a “side swipe.”

Police recovered parts of the car that struck the victim at at the crash scene, including a passenger side mirror. There were several witnesses to the crash. Police also recovered video from the area.

The bicycle and the vehicle were both traveling west on Ridge Road away from South Brunswick High School towards Rt. 1 at the time of the crash.

Police are asking anyone who may have traveled on Ridge Road between 11:20 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. on Monday and may have seen the vehicle, to call the South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Bureau at (732) 329-4646.
