Storm Update: Some 1,000 Customers Without Power, Traffic Heavy On Route 1 In South Brunswick

South Brunswick police a four-car crash is blocking traffic at Route 1 north and Independence Way; trees have fallen in town, blocking roads

PSE&G estimates that some 1,000 customers in South Brunswick are without power, according to police.

Outages have been reported at the Royal Oaks Apartment Complex and in parts of the Kendall Park and Monmouth Junction sections of town, police said.

Strong winds have also knocked down trees in town, forcing police to close roads.

Henderson Road is closed near Blackhorse Lane, and Stouts Lane is closed near the Target entrance.

PSE&G workers told police that four poles must be rebuilt and restrung on Henderson Road, and those repairs are expected to take six hours to complete.

Traffic is heavy on Route 1 and traffic lights are not working at the following intersections of that highway:

  • New Road
  • Whispering Wood Blvd
  • Route 522
  • Raymond Road
