'Prostitution' Massage Parlors Found Near South Brunswick

Police shut down six massage parlors near South Brunswick last week that actively participated in prostitution and money laundering, law enforcement officials announced Monday.

The massage parlors, four in South Plainfield and one in Edison and North Brunswick, were shuttered during a series of raids that began on November 19 and ended on November 20, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the North Brunswick Police.

The investigation into the massage parlors began in March by the South Plainfield police. Investigators acted on an anonymous tip sent to Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Inc.

One operator laundered more than $150,000 in illegal cash, while others spent between $25,000 and $60,000 in the money-laundering scheme, officials charge.
